Powdery snow, the magic of a mountain hut and Olympic panache
In 1964 and 1976, the Seefeld Olympic Region hosted the Olympic Games cross-country skiing and Nordic combination events. In 1985, the Nordic world ski championships (cross-country skiing, ski jumping and Nordic combination) took place in Seefeld.
Toni Seelos (1911 – 2006) is one of Seefeld’s most famous sons. The four times world ski champion replaced the stem turn with the parallel turn and so beat the other competitors in the slalom by miles. An outdoor type – he got fit chopping up logs – made his mark on alpine skiing like no other in his time.
