The Marienbrücke high above the Pöllat gorge was a birthday present from Maximilian II to his wife.

The walk to this work of art nestling in a unique natural habitat is well signposted and easy to manage even for children. You have a wonderful view of the castle and at the same time can admire the 45 m high waterfall.


Practical information:

You can visit Schwangau without difficulty by car, there is enough parking available. You reach the castle on foot, by romantic horse-drawn carriage or in a minibus.
 

You can only visit Neuschwanstein castle by guided tour. You should only attempt the round tour if you are good on your feet as you will have to climb a total of 165 steps up and 181 steps down.


Tours in several languages and also audio-guided tours are on offer.


Tips for the disabled: Special guided tours for wheelchair users and Zimmer frame users.

April - September: 9.00 am - 6.00 pm

Ticket office opening times: 8.00 am - 5.00 pm
October - March: 10.00 am - 6.00 pm

Ticket office opening times: 9.00 am - 3.00 pm
